What the journal is

Journal of Women's Reproductive Health (JWRH) publishes research on reproductive biology, function and disorders; fertility; pregnancy and maternal health; and gynecologic and sexual health across the lifespan.

Its remit connects basic and translational science with clinical, epidemiologic, psychosocial and health-services research. Basic and preclinical studies fit when their reproductive relevance is explicit and scientifically justified; demonstrated clinical benefit is not a prerequisite. Quantitative, qualitative and mixed-methods approaches are considered according to the question and research stage.

The subject range includes reproductive biology and endocrinology; fertility and reproductive medicine; pediatric and adolescent gynecology; contraception, abortion and family planning; pregnancy and maternal health, including stillbirth, maternal mortality, lactation and breastfeeding; menstrual and gynecologic disorders; sexual health, medicine and rights; gynecologic oncology; and menopause and later-life health. Why the journal exists

JWRH connects questions about reproductive mechanisms with questions about health, care and experience. Ovarian and endometrial biology, fertility, gynecologic conditions and sexual health require different methods, but each contributes to understanding reproductive function and disorders across the lifespan.

The journal also considers how prevention, services, rights and social conditions shape reproductive and sexual health. This includes contraception and abortion care, antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care, lactation and breastfeeding, pregnancy loss, maternal outcomes, and gynecologic and sexual health before puberty and after menopause. Mechanistic findings, clinical outcomes and lived experience should be interpreted using evidence appropriate to each question.

Who the journal serves

JWRH serves reproductive biologists, geneticists and immunologists; obstetricians and gynecologists; reproductive endocrinologists and fertility specialists; midwives and nurses; sexual-health researchers; epidemiologists; and psychosocial, health-services and policy researchers. Trainees in these fields are among both its authors and its readers.

Open access makes the published research available to laboratory, clinical, public-health and service teams without a reader subscription.

Editorial oversight and responsibility

Editorial leadership

The Editor-in-Chief is Qiuqin Tang, Nanjing Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital, Nanjing, China (ORCID 0000-0001-9110-9973). The editorial board comprises 24 members working in 11 countries, of whom 15 list an ORCID iD on their journal profile. Board members advise on scope, handle manuscripts within their expertise, and identify reviewers; editors recuse themselves from decisions on their own submissions, which are handled independently. Screening and peer review

All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal’s scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review. Peer review is single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.

How decisions are reached

Decisions are independent of the article processing charge, of membership in any Open Access Pub program, and of any editorial or reviewing role an author may hold. The published version of record

Registered articles carry a Crossref DOI under the prefix 10.14302, so each article has a persistent identifier and citable metadata independent of the journal’s own site. Every article is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0) and authors retain copyright; nothing is placed behind a subscription or a reader paywall at any point.
