Where the journal’s record can be found, and under what identifiers. Each entry below names a different function: identifying the journal, identifying an article, exposing metadata for harvesting, supporting discovery, journal-level indexing, and preservation.
They are listed separately because they are different things, and one does not imply another.

The record
Six functions, listed separately
Journal identifier
ISSNThe journal is registered under ISSN 2690-0904. The ISSN identifies the journal itself and is the reference libraries and catalogs use to distinguish it from any similarly titled title.
Article identifiers
Crossref DOI registrationEach article is registered with Crossref and receives a DOI under the prefix 10.14302/issn.2690-0904. A DOI is a persistent link to the article and the record that supports citation; DOI registration is not an index and does not place the journal in one.
Metadata harvesting
OAI-PMHOpen Access Pub operates an OAI-PMH repository at openaccesspub.org/oai, the standard interface through which libraries, aggregators and repositories harvest article metadata.
Discovery services
Machine-readable article metadataArticle pages publish Google Scholar citation metadata — title, authors, journal, date, volume, issue, pages and DOI — which is the form discovery services read. Whether a given service lists an article is decided by that service under its own criteria and crawling schedule.
Journal-level indexing
Confirming a specific databaseSelective journal-level indexing is a separate status from the identifier, harvesting and discovery services above, and this page lists only coverage the journal can evidence. For a written statement about a specific database, for a funder report or an institutional requirement, write to [email protected] and the editorial office will confirm the current position.
Preservation
PorticoThis journal’s content is committed to Portico, a not-for-profit digital-preservation archive run by ITHAKA (the organization behind JSTOR). As articles are deposited they enter Portico’s permanent archive, so the scholarly record stays available for the long term — even if a title one day ceases to publish.
Funder deposit
NIH-funded manuscripts
Eligible NIH-funded manuscripts may be deposited individually in PubMed Central through the NIH Manuscript Submission System (NIHMS).
Deposit of an individual manuscript through NIHMS is a route open to eligible authors. It is an article-level deposit and is distinct from journal-level indexing.

What authors can do
Metadata quality is the part of discovery an author can influence directly.
- Give author names, affiliations and ORCID identifiers exactly and consistently
- State funding sources, grant numbers and conflict disclosures
- Write a structured abstract with clear objectives and results
- Choose keywords that name the hazards, industries, exposures and populations involved
- Supply complete references with DOIs where available
