Editorial process
Editorial independence
Manuscripts from members undergo the same independent editorial assessment and peer-review process as all other submissions.
Peer review
Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
Editorial decisions
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
Acceptance
Membership arrangements apply only to the article processing charge, which is payable after acceptance. Withdrawal after submission is subject to the journal’s withdrawal policy, which applies equally to members. Acceptance decisions follow the editorial criteria and are independent of membership, fees and roles.
Editorial and reviewing roles
An editor’s or reviewer’s own submissions are assessed on the same criteria as any other, and are handled independently.
Categories
Who membership is for
The publisher offers three categories of membership for this journal.
Individual researchers
Scientists, faculty and independent investigators who publish regularly and want to plan their article processing charges over a fixed term.
Students
Graduate and postgraduate researchers. Applicants submit a recommendation letter from a faculty advisor or department chair confirming student status.
Institutions
Universities, research institutes and laboratories, with shared arrangements for eligible authors and centralized documentation for library or finance offices.
What it is for
Why the arrangement exists
Open access is paid for on the publishing side rather than the reading side. Membership is one of the ways an author or institution can plan that cost.
Budget planning
An institution or group publishing regularly can agree terms in advance rather than handling each charge separately.
Administrative simplicity
Billing, documentation and invoicing can be arranged once through a single contact.
Open access support
Contributions go to the same editorial, production, metadata and preservation work that the article processing charge covers.
Current terms
Requesting the membership schedule
The publisher’s membership office holds the current terms, durations and fees. Write to [email protected] with your name, affiliation and the category you are considering; the office replies with the current schedule and enrollment steps.
The journal’s article processing charge is USD 1,800 for all article types, as set out on the Article Processing Charges page. Any membership arrangement is applied to that charge.
