Aims and Scope

The Journal of Family Medicine (JFM) is an open access journal dedicated to promoting optimal health through family-centered medical care. The journal strives to provide a forum for the publication of evidence-based and clinically relevant articles on family medicine, primary care, health promotion and disease prevention, and health care delivery systems. The journal seeks to publish original research, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, quality improvement initiatives, clinical practice guidelines and recommendations, educational innovations, and policy analyses relevant to family medicine and health care delivery. The journal embraces a broad scope of topics related to family medicine and primary care and encourages investigators to identify and target new research questions and approaches.

The scope of the Journal of Family Medicine is to explore the collaboration between family medicine and other related disciplines such as public health, epidemiology, epidemiologic methods, social determinants of health, public policy, and health services research. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, disease prevention and health promotion, evidence-based medical practices and delivery systems, health disparities and inequality, health economics, medical education, health communication, informatics, quality improvement, medical ethics, and health services research. The journal is guided by the highest standards of editorial integrity and welcomes submissions from scientific, clinical, and policy research, as well as from educational initiatives and quality improvement projects.

JFM publishes research articles and reviews in a range of topics including family medicine, community health, primary care, geriatrics and health promotion. All submitted manuscripts are subject to a rigorous peer-review process and publication is based on the quality of the research. JFM is committed to maintaining a high standard of publication ethics and takes all necessary measures to ensure that all submissions have been ethically and scientifically reviewed.

JFM is committed to providing current, relevant and timely education to family physicians, along with other professionals in related disciplines, through the publication of original research studies, systematic reviews, case reports and commentaries related to family medicine.

JFM encourages authors to submit original, high-quality articles in any area related to family medicine, such as primary care, family practice, pediatrics, geriatrics, preventive medicine, women’s health, public health, and more. 

JFM covers all aspects of family practice, including prevention and health promotion, acute and chronic illness, community health, and epidemiology, providing a platform for discussion of the issues affecting the provision of family medicine. This journal also accepts articles related to nursing, public health, and allied sciences that are related to family medicine.

JFM strives to disseminate knowledge that is relevant and of practical use to the wider medical community. We publish the latest research in family medicine, such as original research, case reports, review articles, practice guidelines, editorials, and perspectives on topics relating to quality and safety in patient care, clinical practice, epidemiology, and public health. We welcome submissions that cover a range of issues in the field, including chronic care management, lifestyle modifications, preventative medicine, and health system reform.

The journal welcomes submissions in all aspects of family medicine, including primary care, preventive care, chronic illness management, mental health, public health and more.
