Membership
Open Access Pub runs a membership program that researchers may join. It is optional, it supports the publisher's open-access publishing, and it sits outside the editorial process entirely.
What it is
Membership and the journal
Membership is a relationship with the publisher, not with the editors. It exists so that individual researchers and institutions who want to support open-access publishing can do so, and it is joined and renewed through the membership office rather than through the journal.
Nothing about membership changes how a manuscript is handled. A member's paper is screened, reviewed and decided exactly as any other paper is, by the same editors against the same criteria.

It is optional
Authors publish in Enzymes without being members, and membership is never a condition of submitting, of being reviewed, or of being published.

It is separate from the article processing charge
The charge for publishing an accepted article is set out on Article Processing Charges and is invoiced after acceptance. Any question about what a member pays for an article is settled with the editorial office before acceptance, so that it is answered separately from the assessment.

Membership and editorial decisions
Membership confers no advantage in the review or acceptance of a member's own manuscripts.
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. Decisions remain independent of fees, services, memberships, and editorial or reviewer roles.
Every manuscript follows the same route. All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review. Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
