About the Journal of Arthritis Research and Therapy
The Journal of Arthritis Research and Therapy (JART) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal of arthritis and rheumatic disease research: basic, mechanistic, translational, clinical and applied research. It has been published by Open Access Pub since 2018, beginning with Volume 1.
Purpose and readership
JART serves researchers, clinicians and educators who work on arthritis and the rheumatic diseases. It publishes research that describes, explains and improves understanding of joint and autoimmune disease, from joint tissue and immune mechanisms to biomarkers, therapies and patient outcomes.
The journal considers basic, mechanistic, translational, clinical and applied work. The topics listed on the Aims and Scope page are examples of the field, not a closed list.

Editorial responsibility
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. They are independent of the article processing charge and of any fee-relief inquiry. Editors with a conflict of interest are recused from handling the manuscript.
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal’s scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review. Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. The full process is set out in the Editorial Policies.

Free to read and reuse
JART is an open-access journal. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (CC BY 4.0), which permits anyone to read, download, copy, distribute, adapt and reuse the work for any lawful purpose, provided the authors and the original publication are credited. Authors retain copyright and may deposit any version of their article in institutional or subject repositories without embargo.
A lasting record
JART articles will be deposited in Portico, a not-for-profit digital-preservation archive, so that the published record remains available for the long term. Read our preservation policy. The Indexing page describes how articles are discovered, deposited and preserved.
