Journal of Advanced Therapeutic Science

Aims and Scope

Journal of Advanced Therapeutic Science publishes research on how therapies are conceived, designed, delivered, understood and evaluated. The journal gives therapeutic science a single scholarly venue in which mechanism, intervention and evidence are read together rather than apart.

Work is welcome from laboratory, translational, clinical and methodological traditions wherever the therapeutic question is the substance of the study.

The field

What advanced therapeutic science covers

Advanced therapeutic science treats therapeutic intervention as a scientific object: the biology a treatment is reasoned from, the agent or procedure designed on that reasoning, the route by which it reaches its target, the response it produces, and the evidence by which that response is judged.

Advanced describes the state of the question rather than the novelty of the claim. Work that extends how a therapy is designed, delivered, understood or assessed belongs here whether the modality is long established or newly emerging.

Scope

Domains the journal publishes in

The groupings below describe the territory rather than enumerate it. A manuscript need not sit wholly inside one of them.

Discovery and intervention design

The reasoning that turns a biological problem into a candidate intervention, and the design work that follows from it.

  • Therapeutic discovery, target selection and lead development
  • Rational design of therapeutic agents and procedures
  • Small-molecule, biologic, cellular, gene-based and other modalities
  • Combination and device-assisted approaches with a central therapeutic question

Mechanism, pharmacology and translation

How an intervention acts, at what exposure, and what has to hold for a laboratory finding to carry into patients.

  • Pharmacology, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics
  • Mechanistic studies of therapeutic action, resistance and off-target effects
  • Translational research bridging model systems and clinical use
  • Preclinical work and the inferences it supports

Formulation and delivery

The physical and biological problem of bringing a therapy to its site of action in a usable, stable form.

  • Formulation science and dosage forms
  • Delivery systems, carriers and routes of administration
  • Targeting, release behavior and stability
  • Manufacturing and quality questions that bear on therapeutic performance

Evaluation, outcomes and precision therapeutics

How therapeutic effect is measured, in whom, at what dose, and with what safety.

  • Preclinical and clinical evaluation where scientifically appropriate
  • Effectiveness, safety, dosing and therapeutic outcomes research
  • Precision and personalized therapeutic approaches
  • Methods, models and technologies supporting therapeutic development or assessment
  • Evidence synthesis and methodological work centered on therapeutics

Approaches

Forms of work the journal reads

Therapeutic questions are answered in many forms. Each is read on its own terms when the therapeutic contribution is substantive.

The journal accepts four article types — Research Article, Review Article, Methods Article and Case Report. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses are review designs within Review Article. The type a manuscript takes does not settle whether it fits; the therapeutic-science question does. Preparation requirements for each type are set out in the Instructions for Authors.

  • Experimental and mechanistic studies that establish how an intervention acts.
  • Translational and preclinical investigations that test whether a mechanism carries.
  • Clinical evaluation, including trials and observational designs, where scientifically appropriate.
  • Methodological, modeling and technology work developed for therapeutic development or assessment.
  • Evidence synthesis — systematic reviews and meta-analyses centered on therapeutics, published as Review Articles.
  • Documented cases and series in which a therapeutic course is recorded in enough detail to inform practice or further study.

A result that does not support its hypothesis is assessed on the same terms as one that does, and a study that reports a limitation honestly is stronger for it.

Fit

What makes a manuscript suitable

A suitable manuscript has a therapeutic-science question at its center: a mechanism to establish, an intervention to design or improve, a delivery problem to solve, a development objective to advance, or an evaluation to carry out and interpret. That question should shape the methods and the conclusions, not only the closing paragraph.

Manuscripts are read first against this scope and then for the quality of the work itself. Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts. Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.

Interdisciplinary work

Where your manuscript belongs

Much of the strongest therapeutic science is interdisciplinary by necessity, and the journal welcomes it on the same basis as any other submission. Contributions grounded in biology, chemistry, materials science, engineering, data science, clinical practice or health research are read as therapeutic science when the therapeutic contribution is central to the question, the methods and the conclusions.

Authors weighing a manuscript against this scope are welcome to write to the editorial office at [email protected] before submitting.
