Poultry

Welfare Poultry welfare is an important area of animal husbandry that focuses on providing humane handling and housing practices for birds kept in a farm or commercial poultry operation. The aim of poultry welfare is to ensure the birds are kept in a healthy and safe environment and to reduce the need for medications and other interventions. It is frequently used to monitor and improve production efficiency and egg quality. This includes providing high-quality feed and clean water, allowing the birds access to fresh air and natural light, assuring hygienic housing and socialization, and avoiding overcrowding. It is also important to ensure that the birds have adequate stocking densities, appropriate perches and nesting boxes, and access to the outdoors, when possible. Implementing good welfare practices is beneficial for farmers, consumers, and the birds, since it results in improved animal health, fewer medications, and greater food safety.
