Whales

Whales are marine mammals, typically the largest living species on the planet that live in the oceans. They are a keystone species that play an essential role in the health of marine ecosystems. Whales provide essential food resources for other predators and scavengers, and their poop helps fertilize the ocean, which is important for the growth of plankton. They also serve as indicators of ocean health, as biologists are able to track changes in several whale populations for clues about the health of the oceans. Today, many whale species are endangered and conservation efforts, such as reducing ocean noise pollution, are necessary to protect them.
