Toxicology

Toxicology is the study of the harmful effects of chemicals, environmental pollutants, and other substances on living organisms. Toxicologists measure the effects on a range of biological systems, including molecular, cellular, and whole-organism levels. The goal of toxicology is to identify, quantify, and understand the risks posed by toxic substances to human health and the environment. Toxicology is used in areas such as public health, hazardous waste management, pharmaceutical drug testing, and occupational safety. By understanding how chemicals interact with the body, toxicologists can help to improve the safety of food, water, and the environment, as well as reduce the risk of illness and disease.
