Taxonomy
Taxonomy is the practice and science of classification of organisms based on the shared characteristics they possess in order to group them into categories and subcategories. Taxonomy is important for scientific research, as it allows for the comparison and understanding of species. It also helps scientists to detect and identify new species, observe evolutionary trends, and understand the relationship between species. Additionally, taxonomy is also important for conservation efforts, as it helps us to identify species in need of protection, and helps us to learn about their behaviour and habits. Taxonomy is also used in medical fields, to identify diseases and infections, as well as in the agricultural field, to identify food sources and products.
