Parasitology
Parasitology is the field of study concerned with the biology of parasites, which are organisms that live in or on another organism (the host) and cause harms to the host. Parasites cause a variety of diseases, such as malaria and trichomoniasis, which can lead to serious health consequences and even death. The study of parasitology includes the identification and classification of parasites, the detection and diagnosis of parasitic diseases, and the development of safe and effective treatments and prevention measures. Knowledge of parasitology has become increasingly important in recent years, as advances in global travel and human migration have increased the risk of parasitic infections among people. As such, parasitology is an important field of study in public health, epidemiology, and medicine.
