Marine Geology
Marine geology is the study of geological processes and features occurring beneath the ocean floor. It is important to understand marine geology as it provides essential information about the structure, composition and movement of the ocean floor. Marine geology is used for a variety of purposes, including ocean mapping, seafloor mineral exploration, engineering of coastal structures, predicting tsunamis and coastal flooding, and understanding environmental and climate change. Marine geology is essential for understanding the processes and dynamics of marine ecosystems, ocean resources, and the Earth’s climate system.
