Marine and Aquatic Sciences Chemical Oceanography
Chemical oceanography studies the composition of seawater and the chemical processes that occur in the ocean. This includes exploring the concentrations of dissolved inorganic and organic matter, as well as their sources, sinks, and pathways. Chemical oceanography is important because it helps us understand the natural cycles, nutrient availability, and chemical composition of the ocean. This information assists in the management of coastal environments, fisheries, and pollution control. Additionally, it can be used to track the transport of substances from ocean to land and air, providing valuable insight into the complex interactions between climate, atmosphere and ocean.
