Invertebrates

Invertebrates are animals without backbones. They make up the majority of the animal kingdom, as 95% of all known animal species are invertebrates. These fascinating creatures come in all shapes and sizes, from microscopic protozoa to enormous octopuses, and play a vital role in the environment, serving as both prey and predator. Invertebrates are important to humans too, as they are essential to the food chain, provide foods such as honey, silk, and fish, and can be used as indicators of environmental health. Invertebrates also have various medical uses, such as studying cancer, investigating aging, and testing for medical treatments.
