Gnathostomata
Gnathostomata are a group of jawed vertebrates and one of the largest lineages of vertebrates in the world. They include many species of fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. This group is important to evolutionary studies as it is believed to be the ancestor of all jawed vertebrates, providing insight into the evolution of the whole group. It is also the basis for many popular aquarium fish species, making it especially significant for the aquaculture industry. In terms of human health, gnathostomata are used as model organisms to understand better how neural and muscular systems work. They also provide a wide range of protein sources for human consumption, making them essential for food security.
