Gastropods
Gastropods are a large and diverse class of animals found in both aquatic and terrestrial environments. They are characterized by their single shell and un-paired tentacles. They include snails and slugs, and are found in every major ocean, freshwater, and terrestrial habitats. Gastropods play an important role in the functioning of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. They are an important food source for many other organisms, and also act as a secondary food source for many birds and mammals. In addition, the shells of some species are important for the production of jewelry and decorations, and some species are even bred for harvesting edible products. Gastropods are also significant in modern medicine, as substances from certain species have been used in the development of drugs or as components in treatments for a variety of medical conditions.
