Fisheries Science

Fisheries science is the scientific study of the biology, economics, and management of fish and other aquatic organisms. It is an interdisciplinary field of study that examines the structures and processes that govern fish populations and communities, as well as the conservation, management, and rehabilitation of aquatic ecosystems. Fisheries science is a key component of sustainable fisheries management, responsible for the development of science-based policies and regulations for aquaculture and commercial fishing operations. The science is essential for the efficient and responsible use of our aquatic resources, and is critical for preserving the health of our oceans, rivers, and other aquatic habitats.
