Overview
Coasts refer to the interface between land and the sea. It is an area of significant importance due to the diverse range of habitats and resources that exist there. Coasts are home to a variety of wildlife, including many species of birds, fish and mammals which use it as a spawning and feeding ground. Humans also benefit from coasts, with resources such as fish, shells and water providing a source of food, while the beaches and resorts associated with them generate significant recreational and tourism value. Coasts are also important in protecting coastal communities from flooding, erosion and storm damage, making them essential for the economic and ecological stability of many areas.
