It is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease and can cause serious damage to the heart, brain, and other vital organs. Its risk factors include genetics, overweight, nutrition, lifestyle, and age, and lifestyle changes and/or medication can be used to lower high blood pressure and reduce the risk of complications.
