Overview
High Blood Pressure (or Hypertension) is a condition wherein the pressure of the blood in the arteries is higher than normal. It puts extra strain on the heart and blood vessels, increasing the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other serious health conditions. It is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease and can cause serious damage to the heart, brain, and other vital organs. Its risk factors include genetics, overweight, nutrition, lifestyle, and age, and lifestyle changes and/or medication can be used to lower high blood pressure and reduce the risk of complications. Early diagnosis and proper management are essential for long-term health and wellbeing.
