Cardiovascular
disease Cardiovascular disease is a broad term used to describe any disease or disorder of the heart or blood vessels. It is a major cause of death and disability globally and can cause heart attacks and strokes in many people. Cardiovascular disease is preventable and controllable through lifestyle changes, management of risk factors, and medical treatment. Risk factors include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, smoking, diabetes, and family history of cardiovascular disease. Through preventive measures and early diagnosis, the progression of these diseases can be slowed and lives can be saved.
