ANCA-associated Vasculitis

ANCA-associated vasculitis is an autoimmune disorder in which the body's immune system mistakenly attacks the blood vessels. It causes inflammation and damage to the blood vessels, resulting in a wide range of symptoms. Its main forms are Wegener's granulomatosis, microscopic polyangiitis, and Churg-Strauss syndrome. ANCA-associated vasculitis is life-threatening without prompt treatment. Early diagnosis and aggressive treatment with immunosuppressant drugs are necessary to decrease the risk of organ damage. In addition, glucocorticoids are also commonly used as a first-line treatment to control inflammation. With proper treatment, many patients can achieve remission and lead a normal life.
