Sleep Disorders
Sleep disorders are disorders that disrupt an individual's ability to have quality sleep. Although not life threatening, sleep disorders can significantly affect an individual's physical, psychological and social well being. Common sleep disorders include insomnia, sleep apnea, hypersomnia, narcolepsy and REM sleep behavior disorder, among others. Each type of sleep disorder presents its own unique symptoms and causes. Treatments for sleep disorders vary and may include lifestyle changes, therapies, medications or a combination of the three. By recognizing the symptoms and seeking proper treatment, individuals suffering from sleep disorders can improve their quality of life.
