Bronchiectasis

Bronchiectasis is a chronic lung condition in which the airways or bronchi become abnormally enlarged and damaged, leading to poor airway clearance and a buildup of mucus. Symptoms of bronchiectasis include productive cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, fatigue, and recurrent infections. Treatment for bronchiectasis involves use of medications to reduce inflammation, antibiotics to fight infection, and in severe cases, surgery to repair the airways. Bronchiectasis can be a serious, life-long condition and therefore proper diagnosis and long-term management is important for those affected. It is important to seek out an experienced healthcare provider to ensure that the best healthcare is available and to help prevent or reduce any further damage to the airways.
