Stds and Mental Health
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are infections that are spread through sexual activity. They are common and can often have serious consequences if left untreated. Mental health can be affected by STDs in a number of ways, including feelings of shame, guilt, and stress. It is important to get tested and seek treatment for STDs if needed, as untreated infections can lead to further mental health issues. STDs can also be a factor in the spread of HIV, which can further affect mental health. Knowing one’s status and taking steps to protect oneself and one’s partner can help protect against STDs and the associated mental health concerns.
