Overview

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are infections that are transmitted from one person to another through sexual contact. These diseases include HIV, chlamydia, syphilis, gonorrhea, and herpes, among many others. Prevention of STDs is essential to reduce the spread of sexually transmitted infections. To prevent STDs, individuals should use condoms and practice safe sex, abstain from having sex or practice monogamy, get regular testing and vaccinations, and maintain open and honest communication with their partner. Early diagnosis and treatment are important in controlling the spread of STDs and reducing their long-term health effects.
