Infectious Diseases Sexually Transmitted Diseases
Infectious diseases are illnesses caused by pathogens, such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites. Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are a subset of infectious diseases that are passed on from person to person through sexual contact. They are a major public health concern and can have serious long-term physical and psychological effects if left untreated. The most effective ways to reduce the risk of contracting STDs are abstaining from sexual contact or having mutually monogamous relationships with uninfected partners. In addition, the use of condoms and regular testing for STDs can help protect against infection.
