Human Papillomavirus
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a virus that is spread through skin-to-skin contact. It is one of the most common sexually-transmitted infections in the world, and can cause genital warts and certain types of cancer. HPV is particularly dangerous for women, as it can lead to cervical cancer which is the leading cause of cancer deaths in women worldwide. Vaccines are available to help protect against certain types of HPV, and a good preventive measure to protect against infection is the use of condoms during sex. It is also important to be regularly screened for HPV and to receive the recommended vaccines in order to reduce the risk of developing serious health complications.
