Hiv Infections
HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection is a contagious virus that weakens the immune system, making it difficult for the body to fight off other infections and diseases. It is a serious public health issue that can be spread through contact with an infected person’s blood, semen, or vaginal fluid. If left untreated, HIV can lead to AIDS, a condition that is often deadly. There is no cure for HIV, but treatments are available to help reduce its effects and slow the progression of the virus. Early diagnosis and treatment of HIV can drastically improve a person’s outlook and quality of life.
