Chlamydia Infections
Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted infection, caused by bacteria called Chlamydia trachomatis. This infection is highly contagious and can be passed through unprotected sexual contact, including vaginal, oral, and anal intercourse. If left untreated, chlamydia can cause serious health problems, such as pelvic inflammatory disease and infertility in women. In men, chlamydia can cause epididymitis, an inflammation of the testicles. Therefore, it is important to get tested and treated if infected. Chlamydia can be easily diagnosed with a urine test or swab and can be treated with antibiotics. Getting tested and treated for chlamydia is important for preventing further complications and for preventing the spread of the infection to your partner.
