Abstinence
Abstinence is a term used to describe the practice of refraining from engaging in sexual activity, typically for religious, spiritual, or health reasons. Abstinence is recognized as the only form of birth control that is 100% effective in preventing pregnancy and the spread of sexually transmitted infections. It can be used as a way to gain greater knowledge and appreciation of one's body and sexuality and to foster more meaningful relationships, if so desired. Practicing abstinence can also provide health benefits such as reducing the risk of unplanned pregnancy, reducing the risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases, and allowing time to improve communication and relationship skills.
