Mental Health Schizophrenia and Other Psychoses
Mental health schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder in which people experience delusions, hallucinations and disorganized thinking. Schizophrenia can have a profound impact on the lives of those affected, and the families of those affected, and can lead to dramatic changes in behavior and functioning. Other psychoses, such as bipolar disorder, can also involve psychotic symptoms. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment can help people affected by schizophrenia and other psychoses to regain their mental health and live meaningful and fulfilling lives. Treatment typically includes a combination of medications, such as antipsychotics, and psychosocial therapies, such as psychotherapy, to help people manage their symptoms and participate in daily activities. In addition, family and social support are an important part of treatment.
