Cancer Prevention
research Cancer prevention research is the scientific effort to prevent cancer before it develops. It involves the study of cancer causes, the identification of cancer risk factors, and the development of strategies to reduce cancer risk. Such strategies may include lifestyle changes (e.g., diet, physical activity, and smoking cessation), medical interventions (e.g., earlier diagnosis, preventive medications and screenings), as well as public policy interventions. Through cancer prevention research, it is possible to reduce an individual’s chances of developing cancer, potentially saving countless lives and improving the quality of life for those affected by cancer.
