Overview

killer A painkiller is a medication taken to treat and alleviate pain. Painkillers are widely used to reduce or eliminate mild to severe pain and have a range of potential benefits, including improved quality of life, improved functioning, and reduced reliance on opioid medications. Depending on the cause of the pain, different types of painkillers may be used, such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), acetaminophen, opioids, and muscle relaxants. Painkillers are often the first line of treatment for pain, but should be used with caution, as many of these medications can be addictive and have serious side effects. When used correctly, painkillers can reduce or eliminate pain, allowing individuals to enjoy improved quality of life.
