Overview

Inflammatory pain is a type of pain caused by the body’s natural defense against injury or infection. It is characterized by redness, swelling, warmth, and pain. Inflammatory pain has a variety of causes, ranging from infection to physical injury. It is triggered by the release of inflammatory mediators, such as histamine and cytokines, which activate the body’s defense mechanisms. This process causes inflammation and associated pain, as well as various other symptoms. Treatment of inflammatory pain typically includes medications, physical therapy, and lifestyle modifications. Recognizing and treating inflammatory pain can help reduce its duration and severity and improve overall health.
