Health Hazard Exposures
Health hazard exposures are substances, situations, and activities that can cause harm to human health. Exposure to health hazards can range from exposure to physical, chemical, biological, and radiological agents to work-related exposures such as overexertion, exposure to high-noise levels, and long working hours. Some of the most common health hazard exposures are exposure to secondhand smoke, air pollution, hazardous chemicals, and poor ergonomics. Health hazard exposures can lead to an increased risk for the development of various diseases such as cancer, asthma, cardiovascular disease, and mental health issues. Ways to reduce health hazard exposures include reducing or eliminating exposure to hazardous materials and situations, implementing protective equipment, and implementing safety practices.
