Overview

Environmental Medicine is a branch of Public Health that focuses on researching, evaluating and preventing the health impacts of environmental agents on human health. It investigates how environmental factors, such as air and water pollution, can lead to sickness, as well as looking for ways to reduce or prevent exposure to harmful elements in the environment. This field also studies how environmental changes, like deforestation or urbanization, can affect the health of individuals and communities. Environmental Medicine has become increasingly important as global climate change and pollution levels continue to rise, and is critical to the maintenance of good health, especially among those in vulnerable communities.
