Major Depressive Disorder
Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a serious mental health disorder, characterized by persistent and intense feelings of sadness, loss of interest in activities, and difficulty carrying out everyday tasks. People with MDD are at an increased risk of developing various physical and mental health complications, including suicidal thoughts and behavior, substance use disorder, relationship problems, and difficulty concentrating. Treatment for MDD usually involves a combination of medications and psychotherapy. With appropriate treatment, most people with MDD can lead healthy, productive lives.
