Neurons
Neurons are the basic building blocks of the nervous system, playing a major role in sending and receiving messages throughout the body. These cells are responsible for our ability to think, feel, see, hear, and move. Neurons can be categorized into three main types: sensory, motor, and interneurons, each with their own distinct function. Sensory neurons carry signals from the environment to the brain, motor neurons carry signals from the brain to the muscles, and interneurons help to relay signals between neurons. Damage to these cells can result in changes in behavior or even paralysis. Research into neurons has helped us to understand how the brain works, and has allowed us to develop treatments and therapies for neurological diseases.
