Lipid Signaling
Lipid signaling is the process by which certain molecules within our cells, known as lipids, act as either mediators or regulators of certain cellular processes. These processes include cell growth, differentiation and development, cell death, inflammation, and even influence physiological processes such as metabolism. Lipid signaling is important for proper functioning within the body as it enables cells to respond to environmental cues, leading to normal cellular function. In addition, lipid signaling is essential to many metabolic pathways, such as lipid metabolism and metabolism of other macronutrients. Malfunction in lipid signaling has been linked to various diseases such as type 2 diabetes and cancer, making lipid signaling an important target of clinical intervention.
