Essential Fatty Acids
Essential fatty acids are biochemical molecules that are essential for normal body functioning. They play a key role in the production of hormones, in proper brain development, and they contribute to healthy skin and proper vision. Essential fatty acids are also believed to play a role in the function of the immune system and in mitigating inflammation. Because the human body cannot naturally produce essential fatty acids, they must be obtained from dietary sources such as oily fish and nuts. Supplements are also available for those who do not have access to or can not consume these dietary sources.
