Rivers

Rivers are natural bodies of water flowing from high ground to a lower elevation. They play an important role in hydrological processes, providing drinking water, irrigation for farming and energy for hydropower. Rivers are used for transportation, recreation, fishing, and are important for maintaining habitats for many species of animals and plants. They are also used to monitor climate change and help regulate the water cycle by providing nutrients and minerals that nourish and sustain the environment. Rivers help us understand the impacts of human activities and support the development of sustainable solutions to protect this valuable resource.
