Immunology
Immunology is the study of the immune system, which is the body's system of defense against foreign invaders (disease-causing agents) such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi. It is a key area of scientific research as it has significant implications in medicine, particularly in the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. Immunology studies the structure and function of the immune system, the mechanisms of immune responses, and their respective roles in protecting the body from disease. It also investigates treatments to improve the functioning of the immune system and protect against disease. Immunological therapies such as vaccines and antibodies are used to prevent and treat various diseases, such as allergies, cancer, and autoimmune diseases.
