Cox-2 Inhibitors

Cox-2 Inhibitors are a class of medicines used to treat pain, inflammation and arthritis. They work by blocking specific enzymes in the body called cyclooxygenases (COX-2), which are responsible for the production of prostaglandins, a group of hormones that cause inflammation and pain. By blocking this enzyme, Cox-2 Inhibitors reduce the production of prostaglandins, which helps to relieve pain and inflammation. Cox-2 Inhibitors are normally taken in the form of tablets or capsules, and are useful for treating conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, acute pain and chronic pain. These medicines can be beneficial in providing pain relief and reducing inflammation, however, they may also cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting and stomach pain. Therefore, it is important to consult a doctor before taking these medicines.
