Viral Transmission and Infection
Viral transmission and infection are the processes in which a virus or other type of infectious pathogen enters a host and spreads throughout its body, reproducing and potentially causing illness. The transmission of viruses can occur through direct contact (e.g. coughing droplets or bodily fluids), airborne particles in the environment, or indirectly through vectors such as insects. Viruses are a major cause of illness and death worldwide, and understanding and preventing their transmission is essential for public health. Vaccines and other preventative measures, such as good hygiene, are the most effective tools for controlling the spread of viruses. Effective diagnosis of viral infections also helps to reduce transmission and improve patient outcomes.
