Mastitis

Mastitis is an inflammation of the breast tissue affecting many women, especially during breastfeeding. It is caused by a bacterial infection and can result in pain, swelling, heat, and redness in the affected area. Mastitis can cause fever, fatigue, and general discomfort. Treatment typically includes antibiotics and warm compresses to reduce swelling and discomfort. If left untreated, mastitis can lead to a breast abscess, a serious condition requiring hospitalization. Mastitis is a common breastfeeding complication, and good breastfeeding management is key to prevention. However, if mastitis occurs, it is important to seek treatment as soon as possible to avoid long-term complications.
