Overview

Leishmaniasis is a parasitic disease spread by the bite of an infected sand fly. It is found in tropical and subtropical regions and can cause sores, fever, and fatigue. In severe cases, it can lead to organ damage and even death. Treatment and prevention of leishmaniasis depend on early diagnosis, prompt treatment, and avoiding contact with infected sand flies. Those at risk of infection should also wear protective clothing, sleep in treated bed nets, and use insect repellents. Leishmaniasis is a serious health problem and must be taken seriously. Early diagnosis and treatment is critical for the successful management of this disease.
