Erythema

Multiforme Erythema Multiforme (EM) is a type of skin condition that usually appears as circular patches on the skin. It is caused by an allergic reaction to something internally, often a virus, or externally, such as a medication. EM is usually not serious, however, it can cause significant discomfort, since it can be itchy, painful, and blister. It can be treated with corticosteroids, antihistamines, and topical ointments. EM can also lead to serious complications, such as eye issues and even Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, a serious condition that causes death in some cases. Early diagnosis and treatment is key to avoid serious complications from EM.
