Maxilla

Maxilla is a bone of the face and the upper jaw, consisting of two parts, the maxillary and the zygomatic. It is responsible for the majority of facial movement, providing the base for the upper jaw and the majority of teeth. Significant in facial growth and development, it is critical in both dental function and facial cosmesis. It also plays a role in speech and sound production. Maxilla also serves as an attachment point for many muscles, which is important for facial movement and expression. It is also important for the structure of the face, providing support for other facial bones and helping give the face its shape.
