Head Injury
A head injury occurs when a person experiences trauma to their head or brain, typically as a result of a physical blow. It can range from a mild bump or bruise to a traumatic brain injury (TBI), which is a life-threatening condition. Head injuries can cause a variety of symptoms, including loss of consciousness, confusion, vision changes, skull fracture, and bleeding, to name a few. It is important that all head injuries, even minor ones, are assessed by a qualified medical professional who can provide the appropriate treatment. Head injuries are one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide, with TBI accounting for over a third of all injury-related deaths. Prompt diagnosis and treatment can help to reduce the risk of long-term or permanent disability.
